Do you like broccoli? I love it!
While I would have preferred to grow these from seed, I certainly can’t complain about the size and quality of these broccoli heads! That’s the last of 4 main heads to harvest and some of the earlier two side shoots are getting ready to harvest as well.
All I can say is wow.
It’s funny really, I doubled my growing space, and as I water and wander in the mornings I keep thinking I can do more. I need more room!
What is your favorite way to cook broccoli? I’m partial to stir frys.
Until next time Keep Digging and Eat Well!

I like it served with cauliflower in a cheesy white sauce. For me the best bit is the fleshy stalk!

Broccoli and cheese is certainly classic!

Wow, those look great! And I, too, need more room to grow things. As for my favorite way to make broccoli. I am not sure I have one. I like it just plain boiled with butter on it, I like it with a cheese sauce on it, I like it raw dipped in ranch dressing, I like it just fine in a stir fry, it is wonderful in quiche and casseroles. It definitely is the perfect vegetable!

Raw in ranch is a favorite on the buffet!

Unbelievable, David! They look big enough to individually feed a family of four. Well, maybe not that large but they sure are big. It makes gardening worth it, doesn’t it? And I’ll take my broccoli roasted, thank you.

In fact each head is just enough for two people so it works perfectly here! Roasted ? With evoo and s+p and garlic?
June 27, 2012
Exactly! I cut it up, add evoo, s&p, garlic. All goes onto a sheet pan into a hot oven. After about 10 minutes I give the pan a shake or two. After that, it’s a matter of how “brown” do you want it. I prepare cauliflower the same way, sometimes both together.

Show off 😉
Those are huge broccoli! What is the variety? I use most of mine in stir fry, but sometimes I steam it oh so lightly, then saute it in a bit of butter and crushed fresh garlic, season with a bit of S & P. Just a pinch of red pepper flakes if I’m in the mood for them. My grandson insists on “Winter Broccoli Casserole”, a concoction of broccoli, cheese, eggs, mushroom soup, mayonnaise, stove top stuffing and butter. Sounds pretty nasty, but it’s actually kind of good, so I let him talk me into making it once a year.

Ya know Granny? I cant find the tags? Ther was a chikd in thr garden who thought the tags were pretty and was “collecting them.” If I can figure it out, I’ll be sure to come back to you. Sounds like a stick to your ribs casserole!
June 27, 2012
I know how that goes. I’m trying to figure out what type of peppers I’m growing in pots, as the tags all seem to have disappeared!
